History of Sierra Na

Before the time of the beginning of the universe there were the Great Outer Planes encompassing a vast darkness. The beings of the Planes looked at the darkness and said, “We can create something from the darkness with purpose and life. Let life and light flow throughout the darkness.”
These beings sent the goddess Pelora into the darkness. She shed light and hope into the vast reaches, creating the Prime. It was in this that Sierra Na was formed.
Pelora looked around herself at all the stars and orbs of the Universe. She smiled to herself, " Yes", she said, “this is a good thing, but more needs to be done.”
Cupping her hands against her chest, she created the great sun that spun around the world. But alas her creation was not yet complete. She called to herself, Mystra, the goddess of all that is magic, and together it was in this that Sierra Na was formed.
Then together with the other gods they created the many races. The beings of goodness created the Elves – a fair-skinned, pointed-ear long-lived race that cherished the lands and the magic of nature; the beings of balance created the Irda – a charismatic and regal-appearing race of shapechangers; while the beings of evil created the Fey’ri– a warrior race, scaled-skinned and leathery-winged, that thought nothing of inflicting pain and misery wherever they roamed.
Centuries ago on the world of Sierra Na, life was much like any other world. Elves guarded the forest, Dwarves dug their mines, Halflings lived in rural communities and the Humans built cities and traded across the lands.
One day an enterprising youth by the name of Morrow thought to build a vast amount of wealth by starting a new faith by spreading the teachings of what he would call the Writs of Martec, the god of patience, that he claimed to have found in an ancient ruin. Many heard his words and liked the easy-going manner in which the new god’s tenets were proclaimed by Morrow. Martec's faith grew in this manner quickly. Morrow set himself up as High Priest and became increasingly devoted to this Elder God. He set up temples in the many lands and the faith grew as did his own. Even as he grew rich from the wealth of the faithful, he began to give to the communities in which his faith was taught.
Eventually the god himself was revived with the vigor of worship and started to walk the planes and pick up his followers in the great Void that all wait in.
As the faith grew, the other gods became disturbed. Martec's faith kept growing and the other deities’ faiths began to wane. As Martec's power grew with his worshipers the other gods became concerned. Most didn't want to start a war with Martec because of his easy going, good-mannered nature, for Martec was neither good nor evil, promoted neither strict edict for his followers nor basked in the anarchic natures. All were welcomed to speak to him.
Nor did they want to destroy Martec's principles for the “ancient god” seemed to have a vast wisdom about him and disarmed any advances with just a word. All the gods respected this. They just weren't quite sure what to do with Martec and his followers.
The god of commerce started telling his followers to make Martec's followers pay more for their wares.
The goddess of fertility caused the followers of Martec to have fewer children thus trying to stem the tide.
Thus a cold war began on the Faith of Martec. As all these things were happening Martec got more and more followers. The people saw his wisdom and the charismatic priests’ and priestess’ gentle faith bringing more to the fold.
The other gods, now far weakened, began to fear for their divinity and grew more restless until Martec, fearing for his followers, cast an ancient spell upon all the lands of Sierra Na and had all his faithful ascend to the Concordant Plane of Opposition.
It left the other gods and their faithful to fend for themselves.
Now with 3/4 of the realm's population gone, the humanoids began to see that they had an advantage. It was their chance to gain control over what they felt was rightfully theirs.
There were only a few isolated pockets of people strewn across the land desperately trying to fend for themselves. The gods were silent and in desperate straits of slowly becoming extinct. Who can help these few souls? Only the seeding of the brave from other places could help restore the balance that was.
The Gods and Goddesses of the world had gotten together. They hatched a plan to seed the world back with other races. They would harvest individuals from other planes slowly one by one until they could re-forge the nations. As they discussed all this it became dark and when finally the meeting was over they looked up to see the moon full in its glory. They wondered at it for it was the first full moon of the many dark months to come. It would be named:
The Harvest Moon
