Inspiration for CTP

Post by Primogenitor »

Just to try to encourage you guys (and/or gals) to keep working, I thought Id show what Ive been doing that could be used with CTP stuff once its released: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Mo ... 618&id=442

This is a demo of my RAD (Random Area Decorator) system. With no pre-placed information, this can realistically and randomly decorate an area with any type of object.

For the purposes of this demo, I only used one aboveground area with 3 types of tree and one underground area with 1 type of tomb. However, it could be any type of object you can think of, for example wild animals, rocks, secret doors, etc.

Another screenshot from a later version (with CEP2 added):

Now thats just from standard bioware rural with CEP placeable trees added, but it still looks very good, IMHO.

What this means is that I can just throw down some tiles in the toolset, add in the doors, and then on-the-fly the area can be re-used multiple times as different locations. So when CTP is eventually released, I should be able to add it with a minimum of fuss and effort. Of course, I still have to combine the other systems Ive got (Random Item Generator (done), Random Area Linker (done), Random Encounter Generator (semi-done), Random Objective Generator (not started)) and then populate all the lists in order to turn it into a proper module, but NWAngband will live, eventually!!
