It looks like a LOT of placeables and some reskinned tilesets. Upon review of the .hak it has a reskinned verison of NWAlleys by ThallionStellani. Ships are also included (not sure if they are by Some_Ux or another artist).
I like what they did with the Alley's. Man I need to get on with enjoying this game and not just the mechanics.
He doesn't seem to give credits for any of the material he uses.
I recognise some of the doors as being by Na and others by Tiberius Morguhn, some by the d20 team, some from Chandigar's Gothics.
There are placeables by Tiberius Morguhn, some by Den-Of-Assassins and some taken from Danmar's LOK. There are bits of DLA sewers.
The henchman scripts are by 69MEH69 . A lot of the other scripts were generated by Lilac Soul's Script Wizard.
Doesn't help with the tilesets, sorry, except to illustrate that he's a bit carefree with borrowed material and doesn't acknowledge his sources.
While it is always 'nice' to get credit, and curteous to give credit where credit is due, Don't you think it is abit rude on your part to condemn whomever made something, using 'freeware' .
90% of the first tilesets were just reskins of Bioware materials. Most of the people never even bothered to say ' yes this was Bioware's model'. Because NWN is a scpefici community, people are always borrowing and reskinning. Some is done with permission, some, isnt. Some is done by listing as many sources as remembered, others, get lost in the shuffle.
I would rather have seen you post a;
" Hey he seems to do a interesting job of reskinning, who'd a thought of colored tiles on the rooves but they work wel;l!" than what you posted. :/
I currently am working on a head pack for my own server. I credit Ryuujin in it for borrowing a few of his models for reskinned materials. Ihave ofcourse attempted to email him, but I cant seem to find him at his old email addy again. Will ths stop me? No.
If I cannot contact someone that released models tot he public, I will not let it slow down my own project.
If for example, I took a model you designed, and reskinned it, I would ofcourse credit you.
If for example, I found a model, that was in a hak, that 'did not' have credit given to anyone, btu I thought "cool with a new skin on this, it woudl look great" I would reskin it, but who woudl I credit?
Yes credit given to people is nice, but you shoudln't act like it is a nessesity.
Sorry if I am coming down hard on you, but, It honestly people,
if I were the fellow that make the 'reskin' on that tileset, I would be insulted by what you said.
And, if I were the modeller that built the model, and, saw my work reskinned, I would feel flattered that someone deemed my skills worhty to add in to thier own theme.
Yes, it would be nice, if someone mentioned the modeller of the original, but in the case of these tilesets, the original author(s) would be the majorly, the Bioware team, if I am not mistaken.
Yes, credit people when you can, but don't condemn this person for forgetting it.
If you are the original artist and see your work, by all means log on to the vault, add a post asking for credit. I am sure this person woudl gladly credit you.
If this guy is good at reskins, which it looks like it, then I woudlnt complain. Your team in future may deem it nessasary at some point to ask for this fellows helm.
Now.. I will come off my soap box. Hopefully I didnt offend you but this is the third different forum I have been to today where someone came across with more than abit of 'pomp' and high and mightiness. And sorry, but it is rude.
So forgive my own rudeness of pointing out your rudeness :/

Ohhh boy... have you started a thread that will cause you all sorts of grief.
Doesn't matter who's work you borrowed, AS LONG AS YOU CREDIT THAT PERSON. Period.
BUT, with NO CREDITS mentioned at all? Then yeah, I say come down on the 'person' claiming it as their work. Come down REAL HARD.
CTP is repairing tilesets. We are also stiving VERY hard to make sure that the original artist is mentioned in all credits to cover their work.
We are fixing a large number of these sets. That gives us the right to rename them a bit. But we STILL give credit to everyone that we can find proof of their work.
A 'merged' hak is NOT original work at all. No one in the Bioware NWN community will allow anyone to claim that it is. All you are doing with a merge is changing where a file comes from. BUT, if you take that original tile and actually reskin it? Then yes, it's YOUR work. But you should still credit the original author for the models that your new skins are painted on.
I seldom see tilesets released that are simple reskins, without at least some mention that it is based on original Bioware set.
If you change just 10% of a texture assigned to a tile, is that enough to be considered 'your work'. Well, from the CTP side of things, the answer is no. But if you change over say, 70% of the texture, (not just recolor but actually create a new texture), then yes, your 'reskin' is valid as your work, but you should still credit the original tileset creator.
In this particular hak, a large number of the tiles were reskins of ORIGINAL works by people other than Bioware. IE, these were not reskins of a reskin of a reskin of original Bioware. But a reskin of a set of mdl files that someone created completely custom. That custom work should be credited. Period. Even if only in the small print hidden in a readme.txt file. Plagerism is a nasty business.
Once the CTP sets get out there, I expect some reskins to happen. Some of these sets are completely orginal works. IE, no Bioware tiles used at all. Some are built upon and expanded upon original Bioware Tilesets. ALL of them credit the expansions used, and all of them also credit original authors wherever it is possible. It's only fair and only a common courtesy. If someone were to reskin or merge the CTP sets with other works, that is fine by us, but we request that credit be given to the CTP for making that possible by doing all the repairs that we have done. OR by providing you the builders with new and custom sets. Sounds pretty reasonable to us. A simple 'My New Tileset, based upon the CTP_xxx set.' is all that we ask for.
I reskin, and, I 'do' credit the original modellers, because frankly I dont have any modelling skills and I do appreciate their time, effort and work.
I have never submitted one of my haks without crediting the original authors. It just seems that your team is cmoming down on the reskinner, whom it looks to me did a fine job. That in itself takes talent.
Alot of times I see textures and skins that are not original material in a hak.
I just am sad to see your team discrediting someone because they 'didnt credit ' someone else.
I dont wanna argue the points about it. It just isnt very nice is all.
My getting mad about OMB's is just as bad though, as him being rude abotu jumping all over this 'unknown' person.
yes I probably shoudl not have said anything, but in all fairness OMB shoudlnt have either it was very rude. and that is what I didnt agree on.
I do agree people whom reskin, shoudl credit the original author.
I just did not agree with the method of "calling him out" like in an old west gun fight.
Actually, I think you mis-interpretted OMB's statements.
He just said that the hak author was a 'bit carefree' with giving credits.
He did mention specific works that were NOT credited to their original authors, which does support the statement that this particular hak author was not very caring about giving the credit.
Beyond that, I don't think OMB threw down the gauntlets on anyone... besides, OMB is a kindly old wizard that doesn't bother with triffels all that much. He is more inclined to just cook up a spell of 'never forget me' and move on.
I keep him pretty busy here in the background and sometimes in the foreground as well. He is the one that did about 90% of the work on our 'Generic Doors' release, and that is why he knew where those doors came from in this other persons hak. OMB did the research, and he always makes sure to give credit for ANYONE that does work on something.
We all try that here. It's good to hear that you also do that. Maybe a gentle nudge in the right direction for this 'other person' will help them as well.
Anyway, the original Poster here, QSW, was trying to figure out where those tilesets came from. She asked for help since the hak author didn't bother to give credit. OMB only replied with names of the authors for content that he himself recognized. Nothing else was said.
I really don't care to see this conversation slide out of control. This has been done here before you can look it up for the arguments and counter points.
**I have Mod access here so that is how I am posting to a closed thread. Chris please forgive my use of the mod access you gave me this once mate**
OMB, thank you very much for providing me with so much information, I appreciate it. Chris you too, and yep, there are alleys in this module.
@Athis: I have no idea if the author is a reskinner or not, he certainly has not indicated to me that he is. This is a SP module he has released, not a tileset Hak (just in case you did not realise that ) As far as I know he is going to try and give credits for Custom content used in his mod, but it might not show all, as I believe it is from stuff he has collected over the years, and may well not know who the original author is now. If he did reskin the tileset, I'm sure he will remeber that and mention it in his documents, but I doubt he did.
Again, thank you for the help in identifying some of the CC work used in this module, I certainly will be mentioning as much of it as I can when it comes to me writing up the review on this module.
